30 min · written

1. Answer It, Prove It, Break It

  1. Read this passage: 'Every Saturday, Ana's uncle opened his barbershop an hour early for free haircuts before job interviews. He never advertised it. When the shop flooded last spring, forty customers showed up with mops, fans, and a check they had collected without telling him.'
  2. Part A: In one sentence, state what the passage suggests about the relationship between Ana's uncle and his community.
  3. Part B: Copy the one sentence from the passage that best supports your Part A answer, and explain in two sentences why it is the strongest proof.
  4. Choose one other sentence from the passage that is related but weaker, and explain in two sentences why it would be a trap answer for Part B.
  5. Write one wrong Part A answer that a classmate might choose, and name the evidence they might mistakenly pair with it.
Turn in / bring: A Part A answer, the best Part B sentence with a two-sentence explanation, one weaker trap sentence with an explanation, and one realistic wrong answer pair.
